15-Year-Old Teen Found Dead in Nongsa Batam Lake, Allegedly Murdered by Close Friend
In a tragic turn of events, Fabio Muchamat Yusuf, a 15-year-old resident of Buana Garden, was discovered lifeless in a lake near the entrance of Purna Yudha Housing, Kabil Village, Nongsa District, Batam on Saturday, January 11, 2025, around 5:30 PM.
The victim, initially identified as Mr. X due to the lack of identification on his body at the time of discovery, is believed to be a victim of homicide. This suspicion arose from the presence of wounds on his chest, presumably caused by a sharp object.
Close Friends Turned Accused Murderers
Just a day after the discovery of the victim’s body, a joint team of police personnel from Polda Kepri, Polresta Barelang, and Polsek Nongsa apprehended two individuals suspected of being involved in the teenage murder in Batam. The suspects, identified as OG and RE, were close friends of the victim.
According to Kapolsek Nongsa Kompol Efendri Alie, the two perpetrators were captured at a hideout along the Nongsa highway. Police also seized a knife believed to be the weapon used by the suspects to end the victim’s life.
The fatal altercation between the victim and the perpetrators reportedly began as a joke that escalated and offended one of the suspects. This led to a physical altercation between them, culminating in one of the suspects stabbing the victim with a knife.
Investigation and Interrogation Underway
Currently, both suspects are undergoing further investigation at Polresta Barelang. They are being interrogated intensively by detectives to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Efendri emphasized that the interrogation process is ongoing, with the suspects providing statements and undergoing a thorough examination by investigators.
The heartbreaking loss of a young life at the hands of individuals who were once considered friends serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability and dangers that can lurk within the closest circles.
