Indonesian Ministerial Support Bolsters BP Haji’s Capacity and Services
On Monday, December 30, 2024, the Indonesia Hajj Organizing Agency (BP Haji) officially inaugurated officials ranging from level II to level IV at the Al Ikhlas Mosque, Ministry of Religious Affairs Office on Jl MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta.

JAKARTA — The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has pledged its commitment to strengthening the institutional and human resources of the Indonesia Hajj Organizing Agency (BP Haji). Minister Rini Widyantini of PANRB has vowed to assist in building the business process stages of service for the public in Hajj arrangements. “We are ready to support BP Haji as long as it facilitates the public and provides even better services,” said Rini in her statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. She elaborated that the role of the PANRB Ministry is to map out institutions according to their authorities to prevent overlapping tasks. Consequently, each institution can fulfill its role in public service optimally and efficiently.

According to Presidential Regulation No. 154/2024, BP Haji is a government agency that is under the authority of and accountable to the President through the minister responsible for religious affairs. BP Haji’s duties include providing support for the organization of Hajj in accordance with regulations. The Head of BP Haji, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, mentioned that they are striving to oversee the Hajj organization in Indonesia properly as directed by President Prabowo. “The President has warned BP Haji to ensure comfort for pilgrims, so we aim to strengthen the institution,” said Yusuf.

Currently, BP Haji has been supported by both structural and functional human resources, as well as facilities that support the execution of BP Haji’s tasks and functions. Strengthening human resources, especially in terms of job qualifications, job grades, and performance incentives, still needs further formulation. During the meeting, he outlined BP Haji’s strategies leading up to the 2025 Hajj season. Firstly, they plan to develop the business process for organizing the Hajj pilgrimage by coordinating between the Ministry of Religious Affairs, BP Haji, and relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the smooth progression of all stages. Secondly, they aim to collaborate and share resources, both human and infrastructural. “We want to achieve harmonization and institutionalization by the end,” he concluded.
