Police Warn of Fake Pertamax at Busy Gas Stations
A joint team conducted an inspection at the Cibabat Gas Station on Amir Machmud Street in Cimahi City, West Java, on Thursday (2/27/2024). The police checked the availability and quality of fuel oil (BBM) ahead of Ramadan 2025. This surprise inspection took place on Thursday (2/27/2025) at the Cibabat Gas Station in Cimahi City. The team consisted of officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cimahi Police, the Cimahi City Government, the Cimahi City Council, Iswana Migas, and Pertamina. “According to the president’s instructions for the preparations leading up to Ramadan 2025, the availability of BBM must be maintained in terms of quantity and quality,” said AKP Dimas Charis Suryo Nugroho, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cimahi Police, at the location.
Thorough Inspection Ensures Quality and Quantity of Fuel
During the inspection, the officers tested the fuel accuracy using a 20-liter measuring container. The testing was conducted three times, and the results indicated that there were no signs of fraud at the gas station. “We have checked it, everything is in order, there is no cheating in the distribution, we have checked both the quantity and quality,” said Dimas.
Dimas acknowledged that the surprise inspection was also related to the circulating rumors of fake Pertamax fuel. However, due to equipment limitations, the officers were unable to directly assess the fuel quality. “Quality checks cannot be limited to just the city; there are regulatory bodies for that. We only have equipment to measure quantity,” he explained.
Local Resident Shares Concerns About Fake Fuel
In the same location, a resident of Cimahi, Ikhsan, admitted that he was not fully aware of the rumors surrounding fake Pertamax fuel. However, he expressed his disappointment at the possibility of such fraudulent practices actually occurring in the field. “It’s very disappointing. But so far, I haven’t had any issues using Pertamax. I run a daily business,” Ikhsan shared.
Ikhsan’s sentiments echo the concerns of many consumers who rely on the integrity of fuel quality at gas stations. The assurance of both the quantity and quality of fuel is essential to ensure the smooth operation of vehicles and the safety of drivers on the road. The joint efforts of law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies play a vital role in upholding these standards and protecting consumers from fraudulent practices in the fuel industry. As the investigation continues, the public remains vigilant and hopeful for a transparent and accountable fuel distribution system.
