So, like, the investigators from the Jakarta Central District Attorney’s Office (Kejari Jakpus) went and raided the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemenkomdigi). The whole thing is about this corruption case involving the temporary National Data Center project at the Ministry from 2020 to 2024. The Head of Kejari Jakpus, Safrianto Zuriat Putra, was all like, “Yeah, we found enough evidence to figure out who’s responsible for the 958 billion Rupiah corruption mess, legally speaking.” He told all this to Republika on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The Chief of Intelligence Section at Kejari Jakpus, Bani Immanuel Ginting, explained that they’re announcing the suspects on Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2025. They issued this investigation order on March 13, 2025, related to the corruption of procurement and management of goods and services at the National Data Center from 2020 to 2024. Safrianto Zuriat Putra mentioned that this whole investigation involves 958 billion Rupiah of the state budget spent by Kemenkominfo on procurement and management during the tenure of Johnny Gerard Plate and Budi Arie Setiadi. By the way, Kemenkominfo changed its name to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) on October 21, 2024.
So, like, they found some fishy stuff going on with the procurement of the National Data Center. Kejari Jakpus is all like, “Yeah, there’s some financial loss to the state in this project.” They said that officials from the Ministry, along with a private company, rigged the game to make PT AL the winner of the tender for procurement and management of the National Data Center from 2020 to 2024. The initial findings from the investigation revealed that PT AL scored a sweet deal of 60.37 billion Rupiah in the first contract period related to the National Data Center. Then in 2021, they got another contract worth 102.67 billion Rupiah. And in 2022, they snagged a deal for 188.9 billion Rupiah. Safrianto mentioned that the officials at the Ministry and PT AL played dirty by tweaking the requirements to ensure PT AL would win the contracts. This shady business continued in 2023 with a contract valued at 350.9 billion Rupiah and in 2024 with a juicy 256.5 billion Rupiah contract.
