Education Collaboration between Government and Muhammadiyah in Bali
Wakil Menteri Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah (Wamendikdasmen), Fajar Riza Ul Haq, spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative in Bali. He kicked off leadership training and instilled values of humanity, nationality, and Muhammadiyah principles for students from various faiths at Muhammadiyah and Aisyiah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA). This event was organized by the Strategic Studies and Partnership Institute (LKKS) of Muhammadiyah in BPMP Bali on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
### Importance of the Event
Fajar emphasized the historical significance of this event, not only for Muhammadiyah and Indonesia but also for being held in Bali, a place steeped in cultural significance and diversity. Muhammadiyah schools and campuses serve as catalysts in fostering brotherhood through education for all, according to Fajar. Being part of Muhammadiyah is not just about ideology but a harmonious social identity with Indonesia.
### Call for Unity and Tolerance
Fajar expressed hope that participants would become ambassadors of tolerance, embracing differences for the unity and humanity of Indonesia. Muhammadiyah, Fajar stated, is not a superficial organization but a profound entity that may not be visible but certainly felt. He stressed the essential nature of humanitarian collaboration and the importance of understanding different beliefs to cultivate empathy and prevent conflicts.
### Collaborative Efforts
The event, known as MY-ILP 2025 (Muhammadiyah Youth Leadership Interfaith Program), saw the presence of key figures like Secretary of LKKS Dani Setiawan, Director of Research and Development PPM, Prof. Ahmad Muttaqin, and Chairman of DPP IMM Riyan Betra Delza. Esteemed speakers included Romo Frans Kristi Adi Prasetya (from KWI), Rev. Darwin Darmawan (Secretary General of PGI), Prof. Ida Bagus Gde Yudha Triguna (Professor of Hindu Religious Sociology), and Philip Kuntjoro Widjaja (Chairman of Permabudhi) alongside several social media activists.
The collaborative efforts between the government and Muhammadiyah in Bali are a testament to the power of education and unity in fostering tolerance and understanding among diverse communities. This initiative not only marks a significant milestone for Muhammadiyah but also serves as a beacon of hope for a more inclusive and harmonious society in Indonesia.
