Surabaya’s port and waterfront in pictures

22/10/2026 19 photos

Surabaya is a major commercial city in East Java, and Tanjung Perak is its principal port. Shipping and logistics connect the city with markets across Indonesia and beyond. Around the harbour, look for the mix of cargo facilities, ferries, passenger terminals and urban activity that reveals how the port works as both a transport hub and part of the city’s waterfront.

To explore, seek public waterfront areas for harbour and city views, or visit the visitor-oriented Surabaya North Quay. The images also show passenger facilities at Gapura Surya Nusantara and Ujung Port, along with buses, street vendors and vessels at the piers. Keep clear of restricted port operations; working areas and vehicle gates are not public viewpoints. Allow time to notice how passenger journeys and cargo handling share this broad port district.
