A Minimarket Employee’s Trauma After the Shooting of a Car Rental Boss: A Harrowing Tale
In a shocking turn of events, a shooting occurred in front of a minimarket at rest area KM 45 on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road in Banten on Thursday, January 2, 2025. The incident claimed the life of the car rental boss, Ilyas Abdurrahman, aged 48. Two suspected shooters were apprehended in Pandeglang on Friday, January 3, 2025. Additionally, a member of the Indonesian Navy (AL) has been detained in connection with the shooting.

Ahmad, a minimarket employee at Rest Area KM 45 on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, was deeply traumatized after witnessing the shooting of the car rental boss. Recalling the harrowing event, Ahmad expressed his fear and reluctance to recollect the incident. “I was extremely traumatized seeing it. I don’t want to remember it anymore,” Ahmad shared at the scene on Friday, as reported by Kompas.com.
During the incident, Ahmad witnessed Ilyas Abdurrahman attempting to seek refuge by entering the minimarket where he worked. He described the scene inside the minimarket, mentioning that there was blood scattered on the floor. “One of the victims was brought in here. There was so much blood scattered around at that time,” he recounted.

Prior to the shooting, the perpetrators had entered the minimarket to inquire about the location of the restroom. Ahmad recalled the interaction, stating, “The perpetrators came in to ask about the toilet. I immediately told them there was no toilet here. Since this is a rest area, I directed them to the toilet.” Subsequently, upon receiving the information, the perpetrators exited the minimarket and headed towards the restroom.
