TRIBUNNEWS.COM, TANGERANG – Seeking justice for the alleged assault by the son of a rental car company owner who was shot dead at the Tangerang-Merak Toll Rest Area, Agam Muhammad Nasrudin expressed his frustration at the difficulty of finding justice in Indonesia. This statement comes in response to allegations from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) regarding the alleged assault.
The incident of assault was initially reported by the Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command, Navy Admiral Denih Hendrata, who mentioned that three TNI members were assaulted before the shooting took place.
Agam stated, “There was a statement earlier about the assault, we did not assault anyone from the beginning, we advised persuasively when in Saketi.” The group of rental company executives was already threatened with firearms when they were caught by the driver of an orange Honda Brio rental car in Saketi, Pandeglang, Banten.
Seeking Police Assistance
Fearing for their safety, the group went to the Cinangka Police Station to request police assistance but were turned away. Agam expressed his frustration, “It’s really difficult to seek justice in this country, according to me, because it doesn’t align with the actual facts of what happened.”
After being rejected by the police at the Cinangka Police Station, the group sought help from their community. They stationed themselves at three toll gates in Merak until the vehicle was detected at the rest area at KM 45 of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.
Altercation at the Rest Area
Upon disembarking, they encountered a member of the Indonesian Navy, identified as AA, outside the Brio car. Agam clarified, “We did not assault anyone. When my father was at the rest area, that’s when he was threatened with a gun in Saketi. That’s why in the video you can hear ‘where is your gun? Drop it.’ My father was just trying to avoid the gun.”
It was revealed that AA’s uncle, who was in the Sigra car, also had a firearm. According to Agam, this man was the one who fired the gun at Ilyas, the rental company owner.
Official Response
Previously, the Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command, Navy Admiral Denih Hendrata, stated that his soldiers resorted to shooting because they were assaulted by the group of rental company executives. Three Navy personnel were involved in the incident, identified as Sergeant AA, Sergeant RH, and Leading Seaman BA.
“They were assaulted by 15 unidentified individuals at rest area KM 45,” he explained. The root of the issue stemmed from the purchase of the orange Honda Brio, which was the rental car owned by Ilyas.
In the midst of conflicting accounts and allegations, the quest for justice continues for all parties involved, shedding light on the complexities of seeking legal recourse in a challenging situation.
