Empowering Village Development Through BRI’s BRILiaN Program
The recent visit of Menko Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Muhaimin Iskandar to Desa BRILiaN Ketapanrame in Mojokerto, East Java, shed light on the crucial role played by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in empowering village development through their BRILiaN program. The program, which began in 2020, has successfully empowered 4,327 villages across Indonesia, showcasing BRI’s commitment to enhancing economic and social value for local communities.
The Synergy Behind Success: A Collaborative Effort
During the visit, Menko Muhaimin emphasized that the key to successful economic empowerment lies in the synergy and collaboration between the Central Government, Local Government, State-Owned Enterprises, and the private sector. He highlighted the importance of a supportive and sustainable ecosystem that enables communities to upgrade economically. “Desa BRILiaN Ketapanrame, nurtured by BRI, serves as a prime example of how village incubation can be replicated by other villages and collaborators. The active involvement of the community in training and mentoring sessions is crucial for empowerment,” Muhaimin stated.
BRI’s President Director, Sunarso, reiterated that Desa BRILiaN reflects BRI’s commitment as an agent of development, continuously supporting village empowerment nationwide. The program forms part of the integration of empowerment activities, creating a hyperlocal ecosystem that consolidates a micro ecosystem. Sunarso outlined the four key aspects developed within Desa BRILiaN: BUMDes as the village’s economic engine, digitization to implement digital products and activities, sustainability for resilient and continuous development, and innovation to foster creativity and innovation.
Strengthening Rural Economic Ecosystems
As part of the program, BRI has strengthened the rural economic ecosystem by supporting micro-enterprise clusters through the Klasterkuhidupku program. This initiative provides selective business training and infrastructure assistance to enhance village economic activities. Sunarso expressed hope that the program, which has proven beneficial, will be adopted by all key economic growth elements in rural areas to promote village progress.
Meet Desa BRILiaN Ketapanrame: A Beacon of Innovation
Desa Ketapanrame, a shining example of the Desa BRILiaN program, showcases remarkable innovation in leveraging natural and human resources. Located in a mountainous region with elevations ranging from 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level, Desa Ketapanrame has implemented various strategies to advance the village, such as optimizing human and natural resources, promoting online businesses, and fostering partnerships for tourism development.
In addition, Desa Ketapanrame has established the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) to maximize its resources, with five business units focusing on water management, waste management, kiosks, tourism, financing, and partnerships, as well as serving as an AgenBRILink.
