Fire Breaks Out at Firecracker Production House in Indramayu
A fire broke out at a firecracker production house in Blok Kebon Kopi, Desa Lobener Lor, Kecamatan Jatibarang, Kabupaten Indramayu on Monday night, January 20, 2025. The local resident, Darwa (70), had his house engulfed in flames due to the significant amount of firecracker production materials stored inside. Despite efforts to extinguish the fire, small explosions could be heard from inside the house, making it challenging to control. The fire, reported to have started around 4:30 PM local time, was finally put out at approximately 9:20 PM. Firefighters not only used water but also sand to combat the blaze effectively.
Gegana Police Unit Investigates the Incident
The Gegana police unit from the West Java Regional Police was deployed to investigate the cause of the fire at the firecracker production house. The authorities suspect that sparks from the materials used in making fireworks or firecrackers ignited the fire within the premises. The investigation will involve collecting evidence, including several barrels of raw materials for firecracker production found on-site.
Two Children Injured in the Fire
Unfortunately, the fire resulted in injuries to two individuals. A two-year-old toddler named G sustained burns on the right arm, while a 15-year-old, identified as A, suffered burns on the right arm, back, and back of the neck. Both victims were promptly taken to the Patra Hospital (Pertamina) in Balongan for medical treatment. The injuries serve as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with fire-related incidents and the importance of taking preventive measures to ensure safety in such environments.
