**Origin of Seized Mercy Car Linked to LPEI Case Revealed by Spiritual Guru**
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized a Mercedes Benz GLE 450 worth Rp 2.3 billion. The seizure is related to the alleged corruption case involving the provision of credit facilities at the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI).
The seizure originated from a witness who was interrogated today, Tuesday (21/1/2025). He is Bayu Suryo Adiwinata, a spiritual guru known as “romo.”
**Romo’s Unexpected Connection**
Bayu, after being questioned at the Red and White Building of the KPK in South Jakarta, expressed gratitude for being able to assist the KPK. He revealed that the Mercedes Benz seized by the KPK was a gift from one of the suspects in the case, Hendarto, the owner of PT Sakti Mait Jaya Langit. Bayu referred to Hendarto as one of his patients.
“It turns out the car was given by one of Romo’s patients,” Bayu said.
In addition to seizing the Mercedes Benz GLE 450, the KPK also confiscated a BMW F800 GS M/T motorcycle worth Rp 370 million. However, the large motorcycle was not seized from Bayu.
**Follow the Money Investigation**
KPK’s Director of Investigation, Asep Guntur Rahayu, stated that the seized car and motorcycle are suspected to be related to the LPEI case. The KPK is currently following the money trail to trace the assets of the suspects.
“There is a connection to LPEI. So, the Mercy car and motorcycle are suspected to be related to the proceeds of the crime in the LPEI case. We use the follow the money method to trace where it leads, oh, to Romo’s place. Later, we will see if this is related to a sale, or if it was truly a gift. But we are conducting seizures,” Asep said at the Red and White Building of the KPK in South Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/1/2025).
The KPK has identified seven individuals as suspects in this case.
