1 Million Hectares Corn Movement: Polri and Kementan Collaboration for Food Self-Sufficiency 2025

In a groundbreaking move to secure food self-sufficiency by 2025, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) have joined forces to launch a synchronized corn planting initiative covering 1 million hectares. This monumental event took place in Karang Mukti Village, Cipendeuy District, Subang Regency, West Java, from 09:00 to 11:30 WIB.

Support from High-Ranking Officials and Dignitaries

The event was graced by several distinguished officials, including high-ranking Polri officials, the Secretary General and Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture, the West Java Regional Police Chief, the Acting Governor of West Java, the Regent of Subang, the Regent of Purwakarta, heads of relevant departments, and local government officials. The proceedings commenced with a presentation by the Head of the Food Security Task Force, Commissioner General Prof Dr. Dedy Prasetyo, emphasizing the importance of cross-sectoral synergy in achieving the corn self-sufficiency target. This was followed by an interactive dialogue involving Polri, the Ministry of Agriculture, and various regional police chiefs to monitor each area’s readiness.

Symbolic Corn Planting and Contribution to Farmers

The climax of the event was marked by the inauguration of the 1 million hectares corn planting program by the Minister of Agriculture, the Police Chief, the Polri Inspector General, the Acting Governor of West Java, and other ministry representatives. The initiative also included the distribution of assistance to farmers, such as 6 hand tractors, 5 corn planting tools, and 200 food packages.

On a 13-hectare plot of land, high-quality hybrid corn seeds (Asia Gold) were symbolically planted. This initiative aims to yield high-quality harvests and serve as a concrete step towards meeting national food requirements.

Minister of Agriculture and Police Chief’s Statements

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ir H Andi Amran Sulaiman MP expressed gratitude to the Indonesian National Police for their support in the food self-sufficiency program. He highlighted Indonesia’s significant challenges amid the global food crisis, emphasizing corn production, nutritious food, biofuels, and downstream industries.

Police Chief General Drs Listyo Sigit Prabowo MSi reaffirmed Polri’s commitment to supporting national food security directives. He outlined the goal of achieving 1 million hectares of corn fields with maximum productivity this year.
