Creating Disease-Free Zones for Horses: PP Pordasi Partners with Kementan for Equestrian Sports Advancement
In a bid to advance equestrian sports, the Central Board of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (PP Pordasi) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan). This partnership aims to establish disease-free zones for horses, known as Equine Disease Free Zones (EDFZ), with the nearest targets being Bali and Jabodetabek.
**Strategic Partnership for Equestrian Advancement**
The collaboration between PP Pordasi and Kementan is seen as a strategic move by Aryo Djojohadikusumo, the Chairman of PP Pordasi, to integrate various potentials in the horse farming sector with equestrian sports in Indonesia. Since the Asian Games in 2018, no EDFZ has been established, making it challenging for Indonesian horses and athletes to gain international exposure.
Aryo emphasized the significance of establishing EDFZ in Bali and Jabodetabek to host international equestrian events by inviting foreign athletes and horses. This move is crucial for the development of the sport in Indonesia and will potentially boost the local economy by supporting horse farming sectors.
**Programs for Equestrian Sector Development**
The MoU covers several strategic programs for the development of the horse farming sector in Indonesia. Aryo highlighted key points that align with the collaboration with Kementan, including the development of local horse breeds, modern and sustainable horse farming systems, fostering associations and institutionalizing horse breeders, as well as data and information exchange.
Aryo emphasized that these programs are designed to support the growth of equestrian sports in Indonesia and have a positive impact on the horse farming community. The synergy between sports, culture, and economics is expected to enhance the equestrian ecosystem in Indonesia, opening new opportunities in tourism and the creative economy.
**Focus on Local Horse Development**
Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, expressed that the collaboration with PP Pordasi also aims at the development of local horses. By crossbreeding horses from other countries, local horse breeders are expected to produce high-quality horses.
This partnership between PP Pordasi and Kementan signifies a step forward in the advancement of equestrian sports in Indonesia, creating opportunities for growth and innovation in the sector. The commitment to establishing disease-free zones for horses showcases a dedication to the welfare and progress of equestrian activities in the country.
