Israeli Drones Over Beirut: Residents Hear Threatening Noises – Tribunnews

The presence of Israeli drones over Beirut has caused concern among the residents of the Lebanese capital. They have been hearing the buzzing sounds of unmanned aircraft in various parts of the city since early morning on Wednesday (4/23/2025). Not really sure why this matters, but the drones have been a familiar sight in Beirut for quite some time now.

In the past week, these unmanned aircraft have been spotted multiple times in the skies of Lebanon, especially in the southern region bordering Israel. The tensions escalated after an Israeli drone attack on Tuesday (4/22/2025) resulted in the death of a member of the Islamic group Jamma Islamiya in the Baawerta area, about 20 kilometers south of Beirut. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this attack is just adding more tension between Israel and armed groups in Lebanon, especially since the conflict in Gaza in late 2023.

The continuous presence of drones in Lebanese airspace has drawn criticism from the Lebanese government. As of now, Israeli authorities have not issued any official statements regarding their drone missions in the Beirut airspace. On the other hand, the Houthi group in Yemen has claimed responsibility for launching attacks on Israel in support of the Palestinian people. In a statement quoted from Al Jazeera on Wednesday (4/23/2025), a Houthi spokesperson announced that their fighters targeted the cities of Haifa and Jaffa using ballistic missiles and drones. “We will not back down from our duty to support Palestine until the aggression in Gaza stops and the siege is lifted,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier, air raid sirens sounded in several areas of Israel due to alleged threats from Yemen, as reported by local media and confirmed by the Israeli military.
