The industrial production of Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) drone Harop, suspected to be used by India in attacks on Pakistan, has raised tensions in the region. The US and Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministers reached out to their counterparts in India and Pakistan on Saturday (10/5/2025) to ease the situation. The neighboring nuclear-armed countries had recently engaged in air strikes.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, briefed Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, on the current situation following Pakistan’s launch of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos (Iron Wall). Pakistan retaliated against India by firing Al-Fatah missiles. Prince Faisal expressed condolences for the deaths of innocent civilians in the attacks and praised Pakistan’s measured response, as reported by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, visited both India and Pakistan in the past two days, urging both countries to de-escalate tensions. He met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in Islamabad on Friday, a day after his sudden visit to New Delhi. In New Delhi, he met with Indian Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar.

Jaishankar revealed that he had a phone call with US Foreign Minister, Marco Rubio, on Saturday. He stated, “India’s approach has always been measured and responsible, and it remains so,” in a post on platform X.

Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further escalation in the region. The involvement of the US and Saudi Arabia highlights the international concern over the situation. It’s kinda like a high-stakes game of diplomacy, with nuclear-armed countries involved. Let’s hope cooler heads prevail and peace is maintained.
