So, like, there was this whole thing that went down at the Bareskrim Polri building in South Jakarta last Thursday (22/5/2025). The Director of General Crime (Dirtipidum) at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, held a press conference there. It was a pretty big deal, you know?
During the press conference, the Bareskrim Polri investigators refused to show the original diploma belonging to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Instead, they only displayed a copy of his UGM diploma to the public. Djuhandhani assured everyone that the diploma in question, which was reported to be fake, had already been verified as authentic by the investigators. Apparently, Jokowi had shown them the real deal, and they even did some forensic testing on it at the Bareskrim Polri Forensic Laboratory.
Not really sure why this matters, but the investigators chose not to reveal the original diploma in public, claiming it was part of the legal procedure. Djuhandhani mentioned that Jokowi had expressed his willingness to present the original document if needed for legal purposes or during a trial. So, I guess that’s where we stand on the whole diploma saga. At least that’s what Djuhandhani had to say about it.
