Ana/Tiwi Geared Up with New Mentor for Malaysia Open 2025

The Indonesian badminton team has set off for Kuala Lumpur to compete in the Malaysia Open 2025. This BWF Super 1000 level tournament marks the beginning of the 2025 season, with athletes set to battle it out at the Axiata Arena from January 7th to 12th for a total prize fund of $1,450,000.

Looking ahead to the competition, women’s doubles duo Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, known as Ana/Tiwi, are aiming for a strong start. Building on their positive momentum from 2024, they are determined to maintain their winning streak at the Malaysia Open 2025.

“We have had good preparations, maximizing our training time after the World Tour Finals last year. We aim to achieve better results than the previous year,” Tiwi shared optimistically. Ana added, “Our achievements from last year serve as a foundation for this year. There is a sense of increased confidence.”

In a new development for this tournament, Ana/Tiwi will be guided by a new coach, women’s doubles legend Nitya Krishinda Maheswari. Tiwi expressed satisfaction with their communication with Nitya, despite her recent appointment. “So far, our communication with Mbak Titin (Nitya’s nickname) has been smooth. She is gentle and calm but maintains high discipline,” Tiwi explained. Ana further elaborated, “Adapting to Mbak Titin has been quicker due to our prior interactions during our junior days, as she used to coach at the senior level. We have trained with her several times during joint practice sessions.”

In their first match, the fifth-seeded duo Ana/Tiwi will face representatives from Taipei, Hsieh Pei Shan and Hung En-Tzu. Alongside Ana/Tiwi, Indonesia will also field Lanny Tria Mayasari and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in the women’s doubles category.

With the withdrawal of Lee Zii Jia, the competition has seen a reduction in opponents for the likes of Jojo-Ginting, adding an intriguing twist to the Malaysia Open 2025.
