Arrest Made in Bandung for Assaulting Trail Motorcyclist Activist
Five suspects involved in the assault on trail motorcyclist activist Ferly Renaldi, also known as Dudung SP, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in the early hours of New Year’s Day in Bandung Regency have been successfully apprehended on Wednesday, January 9, 2025. The suspects identified as A, H, RR, RK, and K were captured in the areas of Cimenyan, Bandung Regency, and even in Subang Regency. In total, there were nine perpetrators who participated in the assault on Dudung SP. Four others are currently on the police’s wanted list and are being pursued.
Details of the Assault
According to Bandung Police Chief Kusworo Wibowo, the incident began after the victim celebrated New Year’s Eve in Cimenyan. On the way home, he witnessed his friends being extorted for parking fees by a group of individuals. Dudung decided to record the altercation on his phone, which angered the suspects. Despite Dudung’s friends already paying Rp 5,000 for parking, the perpetrators persisted in demanding more money, leading to chaos.
The assault on Dudung SP ranged from shoving to physical violence, with the suspects dragging and collectively beating him in front of his wife and child. Kusworo stated that the attack involved approximately nine individuals participating in the violence together. After the assault, the suspects fled the scene, prompting Dudung to report the incident to the local police.
Police Response and Pursuit
Following the assault, law enforcement authorities initiated a search operation, but the video recording of the incident had already gone viral, leading some of the suspects to flee to other areas outside of Bandung Regency, such as Sumedang and Subang. The police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects to bring them to justice for their involvement in the violent assault on Dudung SP.
