In a shocking turn of events, a middle school student identified only as A, aged 14, found himself in a precarious situation after being involved in an accident on Teuku Umar Street, South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The incident unfolded as A was caught red-handed carrying dozens of counterfeit bills.
The Unraveling of Events
Upon arriving at the scene, AKP Kukuh Setio Utomo, the Criminal Investigation Unit Chief of the Tambun Police, revealed that residents nearby wasted no time in verifying the authenticity of the money in A’s possession. Following the accident, A sustained minor injuries from the fall. Subsequently, A was taken to the Tambun Police Station for further interrogation.

After a thorough examination, it was discovered that A was a courier of counterfeit money, instructed by an individual he knew through the social media platform Facebook. The account in question offered a job to deliver items in exchange for Rp50,000. A accepted the offer and met the account owner at Tambun Station to collect the items. During the journey, A was oblivious to the fact that the money he was transporting was counterfeit.
The Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation
Only after receiving a WhatsApp message did A realize the true nature of the money and was instructed to deliver it to Cibitung. In total, A was found with counterfeit money amounting to Rp22 million in denominations of Rp100,000 and Rp50,000.
