Aulia’s body was flown from Jakarta to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar on Saturday morning, January 25, 2025. Upon arrival in Makassar, her body was taken to the family home and later departed for Toraja on Saturday evening. The somber mood enveloped the arrival of Aulia Belinda Kurapak’s remains in her ancestral village in Toraja.

A Community in Mourning: A Tearful Homecoming

Upon the arrival of Aulia’s body at the family home, the air was thick with sorrow. Tears flowed freely as the coffin was ushered in, surrounded by hundreds of mourners paying their final respects to Aulia, known for her cheerful and independent spirit. The family then held a mourning ceremony at 1:00 PM local time.

Final Goodbyes: A Heartbreaking Send-Off

After the funeral service at the family home, relatives and mourners accompanied the casket to the patane (a traditional Torajan grave house) on Sunday evening. The journey from the family home in Kelurahan Tongko Sarapu, Kecamatan Sangalla, Tana Toraja, to the family patane, approximately 100 meters away, was filled with Christian hymns honoring the departed.
