Investigating the Death of Rudi S Gani: Peradi Makassar Team Digs into the Case
Rudi S Gani, a 49-year-old lawyer in Bone, South Sulawesi, was shot dead while celebrating New Year’s Eve with his family on Tuesday (12/31/2024) around 10:30 PM WITA. The crime scene was processed by the Forensic Laboratory Team of the South Sulawesi Regional Police on Wednesday (1/1/2025) afternoon.
Special teams have been deployed by the South Sulawesi Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit to investigate the shooting incident that took place at the victim’s family home in the Lappariaja District, Bone Regency. The Forensic Laboratory Team was also brought in to support the crime scene processing, with the Mobile Brigade Team providing backup for the investigation.
The victim’s body has been autopsied at the Forensic Room of the South Sulawesi Regional Police Health and Medical Unit, but the results are pending. According to Director of Criminal Investigation of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Jamaluddin Farti, if there are any projectiles found in the victim’s body, they will be examined in the Forensic Laboratory.

The shooting case involving Rudi S Gani has stirred up the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) Makassar, leading to the formation of a special investigative team. The Chairman of Peradi Makassar, Jamil Misbach, stated that the team’s establishment is a show of solidarity among fellow lawyers.
“We will form an investigation team to look into the shooting incident that resulted in the death of our member,” he revealed on Wednesday. The death of Rudi has raised concerns about the safety of lawyers’ profession, with Jamil Misbach highlighting Rudi’s dedication as an active member of Peradi since February 2022.
