TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The shocking case of the shooting of lawyer Rudi S Gani in Bone, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, has gripped the public’s attention. As of now, investigators have not disclosed the identity of the perpetrator, while 18 witnesses have been examined, including the victim’s wife, Maryam. Director of Criminal Investigation of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Police Jamaluddin Farti, stated that the investigation is still in the depth stage.
Maryam’s Testimony
Maryam, Rudi’s wife, expressed her shock but remained determined to uncover the truth. She revealed that she had identified three individuals as suspected perpetrators of her husband’s shooting, but she was reluctant to disclose their identities to ensure the smooth progress of the investigation. “There are a few people we suspect because of the cases my husband was handling. I suspect them,” Maryam said with hopeful tone.
She mentioned that before the incident, Rudi had been involved in mediating a case that sparked conflict. Chairman of the Fact-Finding Team of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) in Makassar, Tadjuddin Rachman, affirmed that Rudi S Gani had received threats and intimidation while handling legal cases. “Maryam brought some evidence of WhatsApp conversations between the victim and himself showing threats,” he explained.
Tadjuddin added that electronic evidence such as threatening messages on Rudi’s phone and social media posts are also under scrutiny in this investigation. “Verbally, the threats were conveyed approximately one month before the incident,” Tadjuddin described the seriousness of the situation faced by Rudi.
