So, like, the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, announced on Monday (28/4/2025) that they’ve started an investigation into two physical attacks by pro-Israel masses during the visit of right-wing Israeli national security minister, Itamar Ben Gvir. The incidents happened last week, you know? The NYPD is looking into a series of incidents that stemmed from clashes during a protest last Thursday, when a group of anti-Israel protesters surrounded the World Headquarters of Chabad Lubavitch – a Jewish place of worship – in Brooklyn. Adams mentioned in a statement that this was the only place that agreed to host Ben Gvir in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a neighborhood in NYC, as quoted from Middle East Eye. Initial reports suggest that a female protester was separated from her group. She was harassed by rival protesters and got injured. In another incident, a second woman was surrounded and threatened by rival protesters. Adams didn’t specifically mention that the attacks were carried out by a pro-Israel group. The mayor just kept referring to them as rival demonstrators. “Even though one arrest has been made and several calls have been issued, we’re actively trying to identify additional individuals involved in these specific incidents,” he added. Videos shared online show a female protester having her Palestinian flag snatched before being roughly pushed. The next footage shows her lying on the ground, blood coming out of her head. The police seemed to not intervene. Some witnesses who uploaded on social media said she was attacked with a brick. The woman was reported to have posted on Instagram, where she identified herself as an anti-Zionist Jew with an Israeli passport, showing injuries on her face. “The only thing that makes me happy is when all you Zionists celebrate and laugh at me, I’m here thinking you’re hitting a Jewish person with an Israeli passport, damn it!!! Good job,” she wrote.
Like, it’s kinda crazy, right? The tensions between these groups are intense. It’s like a whole mess unfolding on the streets of NYC.
