The fire broke out on Wednesday (1/15) around 9:22 pm local time, suspected to have originated from the nightclub on the seventh floor. As of Thursday (1/16) early morning around 2:33 am local time, the fire was still raging inside Glodok Plaza. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by authorities, and there were no casualties reported in the incident.
**Search for Missing Persons**
Five individuals, consisting of four women with the initials AA (29 years old), Z (40), SA (20), and A (30), as well as a man with the initials M (45), were reported missing in the Glodok Plaza fire in Tamansari, West Jakarta, from Wednesday (1/15/2025) night until Thursday (1/16/2025) early morning local time. The Head of the Section for Operations of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, Syarifudin, mentioned that the first missing person with the initials AA worked as a cashier at the nightclub. “Then this morning (at 10:00 am local time), a man reported that his four friends had not returned home,” Syarif responded to the press at the fire site. The search for the missing victims, according to Syarif, was conducted simultaneously with the firefighting process, as not all areas of the fire had been fully extinguished. “But we are doing both. Searching for victims and firefighting,” he said.
Despite forming two special teams, each consisting of four firefighters, to search for the missing individuals, the focus remained on firefighting while conducting searches for the missing people. “So, even though we have additional teams, due to the ongoing situation, we may focus more on firefighting with these two teams,” he explained. Nine people have been successfully evacuated on Wednesday (1/15/2025) night using a bronto skylift vehicle. “We used the bronto skylift from outside the building to lower them down in pairs,” Syarif said. As of now, the condition of the nine survivors of the fire is healthy and without any injuries. “Last night, they were given oxygen assistance from the Indonesian Red Cross and have returned to their respective homes,” he added.
