Indonesia Stands in Solidarity with Palestine: MPR Chairman Supports BAZNAS Humanitarian Aid
In a powerful show of support for the people of Palestine, the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, has affirmed the MPR’s backing for the efforts of the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in providing humanitarian assistance. The aid is a crucial part of a comprehensive mission to aid in the construction and realization of Palestinian independence.
The Heartfelt Commitment to Palestinian Cause
During a Public Expose event titled “Healing the Wounds of Palestine,” held at the Nusantara IV Building in the Senayan Parliamentary Complex on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Muzani expressed his admiration for BAZNAS’s dedication. He emphasized that the assistance extended to Palestine is entirely funded by the Indonesian people and nation, highlighting the profound sense of solidarity and empathy that resonates across the archipelago.
Muzani underscored Indonesia’s multifaceted support for Palestine, emphasizing both the humanitarian and political dimensions of the nation’s commitment. He commended the unwavering efforts of BAZNAS and other institutions in providing independent humanitarian aid, reflecting a steadfast resolve to advocate for Palestinian independence.
A Historical Bond and a Shared Vision
Reflecting on the historical significance of the struggle for Palestinian independence, Muzani referenced Indonesia’s pivotal role in the Asian-African Conference of 1955. The conference, attended by 22 countries, including Palestine, marked a crucial moment in the global fight against colonialism. Muzani stressed the enduring legacy of solidarity forged during that era, emphasizing Indonesia’s ongoing obligation to support Palestine’s quest for freedom.
Looking Ahead: A Collective Vision for Freedom
As Indonesia continues to champion the cause of Palestinian independence, Muzani highlighted the resolute stance taken by President Prabowo Subianto in various international forums. The unwavering commitment to supporting Palestine, rooted in Indonesia’s constitutional principles and national ethos, serves as a beacon of hope for a future where all nations can stand on equal footing.
In a poignant gesture of solidarity, BAZNAS Chairman Noor Achmad revealed the substantial financial contributions made towards aiding Palestine. With donations totaling Rp 303.9 billion, BAZNAS has already allocated Rp 120 billion to assist 407,350 beneficiaries, alongside 59.5 tons of essential goods. The remaining funds, amounting to approximately Rp 200 billion, stand as a testament to Indonesia’s enduring pledge to stand by Palestine’s side in times of need.
As the world watches with hope for a ceasefire in the region, the promise of rebuilding mosques, schools, and hospitals destroyed by conflict remains a beacon of solidarity. The symbolic act of laying the foundation stone for these projects, with the presence of MPR Chairman Muzani and, ideally, the President of Indonesia, embodies the unwavering spirit of unity and compassion that defines Indonesia’s stance on the Palestinian cause.
