Antoni Romansyah Faces 12 Years in Prison for Fatal Accident in Pekanbaru
Antoni Romansyah, a 44-year-old driver of a Toyota Calya, is facing a potential 12-year prison sentence after being involved in a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a family on Hangtuah Street, Pekanbaru.
The incident took place on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, around 06:30 AM. Antoni was declared a suspect after colliding with a motorcycle driven by Anton Sujarwo, 38, along with his two passengers, Aditia Aprilio Anjani, 10, and Afrianti, 42. All three victims, who were family members, suffered severe injuries from the accident. Anton Sujarwo passed away in the hospital, while Aditia and Afrianti died at the scene.
Antoni Faces Legal Consequences
Kapolresta Pekanbaru, Kombes Pol Jeki Rahmat Mustika, explained that Antoni is being charged under multiple articles of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation (LLAJ). He is facing a potential 12-year prison term as a consequence of the accident.
Influence of Drugs and Alcohol
Police reports indicate that Antoni was driving at a speed exceeding 80 kilometers per hour and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The excessive speed was influenced by the consumption of alcohol and drugs, according to Jeki.
Prior to the incident, Antoni and his two passengers, Lidia Ristiawati Putri, 25, and Deni, 30, had just returned from a night out. They were found to have consumed methamphetamine before traveling from Palembang to Pekanbaru.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, including the status of Antoni’s two passengers, who are currently serving as witnesses. Coordination with the Narcotics Detective Unit is ongoing for further investigation.
