PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto’s Residence in Bekasi Raided by KPK: Allegations of a Showdown – Tribunnews.com
Tensions ran high as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a search at the private residence of PDIP Secretary-General, Hasto Kristiyanto, in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday (7/1/2025). The move sparked controversy and raised questions about its true intentions.
Allegations of a Drama
Chico Hakim, the PDIP spokesperson, swiftly responded to the raid, accusing the KPK of orchestrating a mere spectacle given Hasto’s current status as a suspect. “This search is nothing but a show. Since Mr. Hasto is already a suspect himself,” Chico stated at the PDIP Central Executive Board office in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Chico expressed that they were not surprised by the search and believed it was a diversion tactic from more pressing issues. “For us and the Secretary-General himself, this is not new, not surprising. However, it is nothing but a distraction,” he added.
The Context
Chico also highlighted the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) report, which included the name of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in the list of the world’s most corrupt leaders. He suspected that the KPK’s actions aimed to divert public attention from this report.
In response to these accusations, KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto refuted claims that the search at Hasto’s residence was a deliberate distraction. “We cannot prevent external parties from thinking that way or there are also parties who feel that this activity is a diversion from other hot topics being discussed in the media, let’s leave it in the public domain,” Tessa stated at the KPK Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Tuesday.
Professional Conduct
Tessa clarified that the search at Hasto’s residence, located in Taman Villa Kartini, Bekasi, was part of an ongoing case investigation. “KPK, in this case, the investigators, will continue to carry out actions in a professional, procedural, and proportional manner,” she assured.
Seized Items
KPK investigators confiscated several items after searching Hasto Kristiyanto’s home in Bekasi, West Java. Hasto’s legal representative, Johannes Tobing, mentioned that the investigators did not seize many items, only a flash drive and a notebook.
