Police Capture Suspected Motorcycle Thief in East Cikarang Bekasi

In a decisive move to combat a recent wave of motorcycle thefts plaguing the community of East Cikarang, Bekasi, authorities have apprehended SW, a 29-year-old individual believed to be one of the three masterminds behind the heinous crimes. The arrest, conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Cikarang Police Station, was prompted by reports of motorbike robberies at Far I Boarding House, Rawabanteng Village, Sertajaya Subdistrict, East Cikarang, on November 4, 2024, and January 3, 2025. This breakthrough unfolded on Saturday, January 5, 2025.

Swift Apprehension

Led by the Crime Investigation Unit Chief Inspector Arnandha Hadi Pratama, law enforcement received a tip-off about the suspect’s whereabouts in Serengseng II Hamlet, Kartarahayu Village, Cibuaya Subdistrict, Karawang Regency. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted SW engrossed in his cell phone on the porch of his residence. Startled by their presence, the culprit attempted to flee but was promptly subdued by the team.

Crucial Evidence

During the arrest, authorities seized several incriminating items linked to the theft spree, including four stolen motorcycle license plates, two Honda Beat motorcycles, a T-key, four key duplicates, a motorcycle key opener magnet, a blue and black checkered shirt, and black jeans matching the CCTV footage.

Manhunt for Remaining Culprits

Although SW is now in custody, his accomplices, US alias KOJUL (32), acting as the motorbike rider, and HE alias EMEN (33), serving as the receiver, remain at large. Both individuals, residents of Dongkal, Pedes Subdistrict, Karawang Regency, are currently subjects of a manhunt. Police Chief Muhammad Trisno reiterated the ongoing efforts to track down the fugitives and urged the public to stay vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities or the whereabouts of the suspects promptly.

SW and the confiscated evidence are presently under the jurisdiction of the East Cikarang Police Station for further legal proceedings. The successful operation is anticipated to restore peace of mind and alleviate the community’s distress caused by the rampant motorbike thefts in the area.
