The Bandung Police Traffic Unit, in collaboration with the Bandung District Transportation Agency, recently conducted ramp checks on buses in the Katapang area of Bandung District on Friday, March 14, 2025. This initiative aimed to ensure that vehicles were roadworthy for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday travel season in 1446 Hijriah.

Kombes Pol Aldi Subartono, the Bandung Police Chief, emphasized that the ramp checks were essential to verify the roadworthiness of vehicles and the readiness of drivers to transport passengers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday travel season in 1446 Hijriah. The inspections included assessing the physical condition of buses, verifying documentation, and evaluating the health of bus drivers. “The purpose is to check the readiness of vehicles to be used for the Eid al-Fitr holiday travel season and to ensure the drivers’ conditions by conducting health checks and urine tests,” Aldi stated on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Following the initial inspections, Aldi confirmed that all buses designated for holiday travel were deemed roadworthy. Moreover, the urine tests conducted on bus drivers came back negative for drugs, and their blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels were within normal limits.

In addition to ensuring the safety of the vehicles and drivers, Aldi emphasized the importance of bus companies informing passengers about safety procedures, such as the locations of emergency exits and how to break windows in case of an emergency before the journey commences. This precautionary measure is crucial as many passengers may not know what to do in case of an emergency situation.

Furthermore, Aldi highlighted that all buses in their fleet had been instructed to refrain from using the infamous “telolet” horn that had previously caused disturbances and posed risks on the road. “Thankfully, all buses have now refrained from using the telolet horn,” he remarked.

Aldi also mentioned that the Bandung District Transportation Agency, in collaboration with the Sahabat bus company, had arranged for three buses to provide free holiday travel services for Eid al-Fitr in 1466 Hijriah. This initiative aimed to ensure that the holiday travel program would run smoothly, comfortably, and without any disruptions.

In conclusion, the ramp checks conducted by the Bandung Police Traffic Unit and the Bandung District Transportation Agency played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and readiness of buses and drivers for the upcoming holiday travel season. By conducting thorough inspections, implementing safety measures, and providing free travel services, they aimed to facilitate a secure and comfortable travel experience for all passengers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
