Residence Renovation Delays Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor’s Move-In Day
Jakarta, Indonesia – The anticipated swearing-in of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo and Vice Governor Rano Karno on February 6, 2025, is overshadowed by a slight hiccup— their official residences are not yet ready for occupancy. The current Acting Governor of Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, confirmed that both the Governor’s and Vice Governor’s official residences are still undergoing renovations and will not be habitable by the time Pramono and Rano take office.
Teguh Setyabudi expressed that the renovation process has been ongoing since he assumed the role of Acting Governor, emphasizing that the renovations are progressing steadily. “We are hoping to have the renovations completed soon,” Teguh added during a press briefing at the Jakarta City Hall on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor-elect Rano Karno appeared unfazed by the delay in moving into his official residence in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta. He mentioned that he had already visited the residence on Jalan Denpasar to assess the status of the renovations. “It seems like the official residence will not be ready for occupancy in February, but that’s okay. It’s important for us to understand when we can move in,” Rano remarked, affectionately known as Bang Doel by many.
According to information gathered by Rano, the renovation of his official residence is projected to conclude by February 19, 2025. Despite the delay, Rano emphasized the significance of ensuring that public services remain uninterrupted during this period. “The priority is to ensure that public service is not disrupted. That’s the most important thing,” he emphasized.
As the inauguration date approaches, the spotlight remains on the completion of the residence renovations.
