Title: New Reservoirs Ready for Inauguration by Prabowo to Boost Food Self-Sufficiency

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk has announced the completion of two reservoir projects that are set to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. The first reservoir, Rukoh Dam in Aceh, and the second, Jlantah Dam in Central Java, are poised to significantly enhance agricultural productivity and drive towards food self-sufficiency.

**Supporting Food Security**

The Rukoh Dam will irrigate an impressive 11,950 hectares of land with a mix of paddy fields and other crops, increasing planting intensity to 300 percent. On the other hand, the Jlantah Dam will supply water to 1,494 hectares of rice fields in the Jatiyoso and Jumapolo districts. The presence of these reservoirs in Karanganyar District has the potential to elevate the Planting Index (PI) from 172 percent to 272 percent on an 806-hectare plot of land. Additionally, on a 688-hectare parcel, the PI could reach 272 percent.

Ermy Puspa Yunita, Corporate Secretary of Waskita Karya, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s infrastructure development initiatives through reservoir projects. These projects play a vital role in enhancing food security and downstream processes, aligning with the current government’s priorities.

**Local Employment Opportunities**

In line with the President’s aspirations, Waskita Karya has also focused on creating job opportunities for local residents. The company’s efforts to absorb local talent align with the government’s directive to expand employment opportunities throughout the country.

Looking ahead, Waskita remains dedicated to advancing infrastructure development to support various government programs. It is hoped that all projects undertaken by the company will have a positive impact on the community and contribute to overall societal development.

**Future Projects**

While the Rukoh and Jlantah Dams are set to be inaugurated soon, Waskita Karya is also actively involved in several other reservoir projects, including Bener, Tiga Dihaji, Mbay, Jragung, Cibeet, and Karangnongko. In 2024 alone, the company successfully completed and inaugurated four reservoir projects, namely Karian in January, Margatiga and Leuwikeris in August, and Temef in October.

The completion of these reservoir projects marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s journey towards food self-sufficiency. As the country continues to prioritize agricultural productivity and infrastructure development, the role of companies like Waskita Karya becomes increasingly crucial in achieving these national goals.
