Anis Matta, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, recently expressed his support for Indonesian philanthropic institutions that are involved in rebuilding the war-torn city of Gaza. This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s commitment to humanitarian solidarity and its active role in promoting peace and rehabilitating conflict areas. During a meeting with representatives from the International Networking for Humanitarian (INH) organization in Jakarta on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Matta emphasized the significance of programs aimed at assisting communities in need, such as the Indonesia Village in Gaza.

The INH’s “Rebuild Gaza” program aims to contribute to the reconstruction efforts in Gaza, which have been severely impacted by prolonged conflict. The proposed development plan for the Indonesia Village includes the provision of basic infrastructure, educational facilities, healthcare services, and economic empowerment for the residents of Gaza. Matta assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to facilitate various humanitarian groups and NGOs in supporting this program.

Muhammad Hadyan Abshar, the Program Manager at INH, expressed his gratitude for Matta’s encouragement, stating that it motivates philanthropic organizations to continue their collaborative efforts in assisting the people of Gaza. The hope is that this synergy will strengthen their collective endeavors and make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected. Additionally, the Indonesia Village in Gaza serves as a hub for activities involving volunteers from NGOs and non-profit organizations operating in the region.

According to Hadyan, INH remains committed to providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian community. Since the aggression and genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza, the organization has gathered over Rp60 billion in humanitarian assistance, which has been distributed to the region. These contributions primarily consist of essential necessities such as water, food, clothing, and medication.

In a time of ongoing turmoil and hardship, the support from international partners and philanthropic institutions is crucial in alleviating the suffering of communities affected by conflict. The Indonesia Village initiative in Gaza serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity, showcasing Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes around the world. As the global community comes together to extend a helping hand, the impact of these collaborative efforts reverberates far beyond geographical boundaries, offering a glimpse of compassion and resilience in the face of adversity.
