**Suspected Drunk Robber in Gamping Case Targeting Vulnerable Victims**
SLEMAN, DIY – In a shocking turn of events, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Yogyakarta Regional Police finally uncovered a violent robbery case in Gamping, Sleman. The suspects, identified as AM (23) and BA (35), were found to have committed the crime while intoxicated and armed with bamboo sticks to snatch from unsuspecting victims. This revelation was made by the Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Commissioner Ihsan, during a press conference on the Robbery with Violence Case at the Crime Scene in Gamping, Sleman, at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday (1/14/2025).
**The Crime and Investigation**
The incident occurred on Friday (12/13/2024) at 10:41 PM when victims A (20) and L (19) were on their way home after buying food. Victim A was driving with L as a passenger when they noticed two men on a black Honda Beat motorcycle trailing them. The suspects, who had been tailing the victims, then approached and kicked the victims’ motorcycle, causing them to fall. Subsequently, suspect AM forcibly took the victim’s bag, leading to a scuffle where the suspects struck the victim with bamboo sticks twice, resulting in the suspects gaining possession of the victim’s belongings.
**Arrest and Charges**
Upon receiving reports of the incident, the police conducted a thorough investigation, collected evidence, and apprehended the suspects on January 8-9, 2025. BA was apprehended in his hometown of Turi, while AM was arrested at a guesthouse in Umbulharjo. The stolen items were sold by the suspects for personal enjoyment. As a consequence of their actions, AM and BA are facing charges under Article 365 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code or Article 365 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code or Article 362 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison. The police seized evidence including a black Honda Beat motorcycle with its registration, a one-meter long brown bamboo stick, a blue hoodie with the inscription “EDGE Marine,” a white wallet belonging to victim A, and various other items used in the commission of the crime.
