Tackling Corruption in 2025: Ahmad Sahroni Calls for More Aggressive Measures
JAKARTA – In a bold move to combat corruption head-on, Ahmad Sahroni, the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NasDem Party, is urging for more aggressive anti-corruption efforts in 2025. Sahroni emphasized the critical need for all law enforcement agencies to collaborate effectively to eradicate and prevent corruption, a top priority for President Prabowo.
Collaboration for a Cause
Sahroni stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption. He expressed hope that in 2025, all law enforcement agencies would work together seamlessly to tackle this pressing issue. He highlighted the recent support provided by the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) from the Indonesian National Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortas Tipikor Polri), indicating a more robust approach to combating corruption. Sahroni also called for a shift in mindset, advocating for a focus not only on criminal sanctions but also on the recovery of state losses.
Acknowledging Progress and Setting Goals
While commending Kejagung’s financial recovery efforts in 2024, where a staggering Rp 1.69 trillion was returned to the state treasury, Sahroni urged Kejagung to further maximize state loss recovery in 2025. He emphasized that prioritizing the recovery of state losses should be the primary objective moving forward.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption
Sahroni made a firm stand against lenient penalties for corrupt individuals, stating that there should be no room for fines or light sentences. He emphasized the importance of holding corrupt individuals accountable for their actions without any form of leniency.
Kejagung’s Successful Financial Recovery
Previously, the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) successfully saved Rp 1.69 trillion of state finances confiscated from corruption and customs crime in 2024. The recovered funds were promptly returned to the state treasury, signifying a significant step towards financial accountability and transparency.
Moving Forward with Determination
As Indonesia navigates the complexities of combating corruption in 2025, Sahroni’s call for heightened collaboration and unwavering commitment to recovering state losses serves as a beacon of hope in the fight against corruption. It is imperative for all stakeholders to rally behind this cause and work together towards a corruption-free future.
