Tragic Accident Claims 5 Lives in Aceh
A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, one day before the New Year, on Jalan Banda Aceh-Medan KM 77, Desa Simpang Beutong, Kecamatan Muara Tiga, Pidie, Aceh. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace vehicle and two motorcycles, resulting in the loss of 5 lives. The victims included three passengers of the Toyota Hiace and two motorcyclists. The individuals sustained fatal injuries, while the vehicles suffered significant damage.
Police Escort Bodies to Takengon-Bener Meriah Border
Following the tragic incident, the bodies of the five victims were promptly evacuated from Puskesmas Muara Tiga to RSUD Tgk Chik in Tiro, Sigli, for mortuary procedures. The regional police force, including the Sat PJR Ditlantas Polda Aceh and various local police departments, collaborated to escort the bodies to their respective funeral homes.
The bodies were transported to Pidie Jaya, Aceh Tengah, and eventually to the Takengon-Bener Meriah border in the early hours of Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The escort operation was conducted in relay fashion starting at 03:00 AM WIB, involving personnel from multiple police departments to ensure the safe and unobstructed delivery of the bodies to the grieving families.
