Anak SD Tewas Disiksa Orangtuanya di Pasuruan, Indonesia

In a heartbreaking case that has shaken the community of Pasuruan, Indonesia, a 7-year-old child identified as MADF tragically lost his life due to abuse inflicted by his own parents. The abuse came to light on Friday, December 27, 2024, when the young victim complained of chest pain. MADF’s stepfather, Syahrul Abidin (19), attempted to treat him by massaging and giving him a drink mixed with eucalyptus oil. Despite these efforts, MADF’s condition deteriorated, with him starting to cough up blood.

The child was initially taken to the Bangil Community Health Center before being transferred to the Bangil Regional Hospital, where, sadly, he passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Upon investigation, authorities found that MADF had sustained several injuries on his body. It is suspected that Syahrul and the victim’s biological mother, Martha Widya Ningsih (24), subjected him to repeated violence, including beatings, scratching, and even burning him with cigarettes.

According to the autopsy results, the cause of the child’s death was bleeding in the right kidney due to blunt force trauma, with several marks found on his body. The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Pasuruan Police, AKP Achmad Doni Meidianto, stated on Monday that the motive behind this heinous act was the parents’ annoyance at the child’s requests for pocket money.

Syahrul and Martha have been named as suspects in this case and are charged under Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph 3 of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. They face a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp3 billion. The Pasuruan Police urge the public to be more vigilant against violence within their communities.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of identifying and reporting cases of abuse to protect vulnerable individuals in our society. It highlights the critical need for intervention and support for victims of domestic violence, especially children who are often defenseless against their abusers. Let us all come together to create a safer environment for our children, where they can grow and thrive without fear or harm. Remember, it takes a community to protect its members and ensure their well-being.
