Claudia Lee Wijaya: Bridging the Gap between Parental Perception and Esports

In the fast-evolving landscape of Indonesia’s gaming and esports industry, the name Claudia Lee Wijaya shines bright as a content creator and brand ambassador actively shaping the gaming community. With 231 thousand followers on Instagram under the handle @clausiee, Claudia’s gaming journey began with daily content creation on TikTok and Instagram.

Over the span of 2 years, as the brand ambassador for Evos, Claudia delved deep into the gaming industry, supporting her team in various competitions like the Esports World Cup (EWC) featuring games such as Free Fire, Mobile Legends, and Apex Legends. Despite the rapid growth of esports, Claudia noticed a prevalent skepticism among parents regarding careers in this industry. Many still view games merely as a pastime, failing to recognize the promising career opportunities they offer.

During the 6th Anniversary event of Evos x Axis in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Claudia expressed, “One of the biggest challenges for young individuals pursuing a career in gaming is obtaining support from their parents.” She emphasized the need to educate communities, including parents, that esports and content creation are now serious industries.

“Sometimes, there are children who may not excel academically but have talent in the gaming world. I always advise them to continue their education, but if there’s an opportunity in esports, there’s no harm in exploring it,” she stated. Claudia highlighted that parents often begin to embrace their children’s career choices when they witness tangible results.

“As children demonstrate earnings, accolades, or achievements from gaming, parents gradually become more supportive,” she added. The esports world has grown exponentially, encompassing competitions, business opportunities, and the creation of new job prospects. Claudia hopes for a future where parents are more open and supportive of children venturing into this industry.

She stressed the importance of balance between academics and passion, stating, “Learning remains crucial, but we must also understand that each child possesses different interests and talents.” Alongside Claudia, Tony Tham, Head of Commercial at Evos, emphasized the significance of providing platforms for students and gamers to share their passion and connect with fellow gamers.

This collaboration led to the Warrior Fams Cup, the Evos Fams Cup (EFC) tournament in partnership with Axis, and the reality show EFC Pro Series EVOS Fams Cup. “Following successful events in six major cities such as Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Palembang, Malang, Makassar, and Pontianak, this festival will also reach out to Evos Fams and young talents in Bandung, Bali, Manado, Batam, Lampung, and Semarang,” he stated.

Nahdiah Estu Pawestri, Head of Youth Marketing Communication at PT XL Axiata Tbk, highlighted their collaboration with Evos as a testament to their consistent support for the esports world, providing opportunities for the younger generation to pursue their digital dreams.
