President Prabowo Subianto, along with Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo, and President Director of PLN Darmawan Prasodjo, officially inaugurated the Strategic Electrification Project in 18 Provinces at the Jatigede Hydropower Plant in Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Monday, January 20, 2025. The Jatigede Hydropower Plant, built by PT PLN (Persero) with a capacity of 2 X 55 MegaWatt (MW), is now fully operational. This hydropower plant enhances the energy mix from renewable energy sources by 110 MW, capable of supplying electricity to 71,923 households.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 26 power plants simultaneously across 18 provinces with a hybrid concept at the Jatigede Hydropower Plant in Sumedang City, West Java, on Monday, January 20, 2025. The main inauguration site, the Jatigede Hydropower Plant, has a capacity of 2×55 megawatts (MW) and utilizes water flow from the Jatigede Reservoir, constructed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing as part of the initiative for clean and sustainable energy provision. President Prabowo was accompanied by several key officials, including Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Dody Hanggodo, and Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo.

Major Step Towards Energy Transition

Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo announced that the total capacity of the inaugurated power plants reached 3.2 gigawatts (GW), with 89 percent coming from renewable energy sources. “This is a significant step in the energy transition to reduce carbon emissions,” stated Darmawan in a press release on Monday, January 20. He emphasized the role of PLN Icon Plus in supporting energy and telecommunication infrastructure development. “PLN Icon Plus is committed to continuously supporting environmentally friendly energy transitions and realizing sustainable development in Indonesia,” he added.

Supporting Infrastructure and Communication

PLN Icon Plus Regional Jakarta and Banten ensured the smooth flow of the inauguration ceremony. During the event, PLN Icon Plus Regional Jakarta and Banten guaranteed seamless telecommunication systems at four locations in the Jakarta and Banten regions. A special team from PLN Icon Plus was deployed to monitor the network and ensure uninterrupted communication. Quality checks on the network infrastructure were conducted days before the event to ensure the reliability of the telecommunication infrastructure.
