TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – A tragic incident unfolded at the rest area of KM 45 on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road in Desa Pabuaran, Kecamatan Jayanti, Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday (2/1/2025), where Ilyas Abdurrahman (48), the owner of a car rental, fell victim to a fatal shooting.
Ramli (59), another individual involved in the incident, was shot in the arm while chasing a stolen rental car in the early hours of Thursday (2/1/2025). The severity of Ramli’s condition was critical due to the gunshot wound that pierced through his arm into his abdomen. He was swiftly taken to RSUD Balaraja for immediate medical attention.
Anita, Ramli’s wife, recounted receiving a distressing phone call informing her of the shooting incident and Ramli’s hospitalization at Balaraja. She, along with her child, rushed to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Balaraja to be by Ramli’s side. However, upon arrival, they were informed that the hospital lacked the necessary resources to provide intensive care, prompting Ramli’s referral to a more equipped medical facility.
### Initial Rejections by Hospitals
Anita and her family were faced with disbelief and confusion as several hospitals rejected Ramli’s admission, citing insufficient capacity. Even the Police Hospital (RS Polri) turned away Ramli, claiming a full occupancy that prevented them from accepting new patients. The family’s distress was exacerbated by the rejection from various medical institutions, leaving them in a state of uncertainty and urgency.
### Seeking Medical Aid and Protection
Fortunately, amidst the chaos and despair, Ramli was eventually accepted for treatment at Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusuma (RSCM), providing a glimmer of hope in his dire situation. However, the harrowing experience of being denied medical assistance highlights a pressing issue in the healthcare system that requires immediate attention and resolution.
Every individual deserves prompt and adequate medical care in times of crisis, regardless of the circumstances. The ordeal faced by Ramli and his family sheds light on the challenges encountered by victims seeking urgent medical attention, emphasizing the need for comprehensive reforms to ensure timely and efficient healthcare services for all. Let us reflect on this narrative and consider the importance of a robust healthcare system that prioritizes the well-being of every citizen, safeguarding lives and providing essential support in times of need.
