Tahura Trail Running Race: A Celebration of Forest Conservation
TTRR 2025: Revival after Four Years
After a four-year hiatus due to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tahura Trail Running Race (TTRR) made a triumphant return on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Held in the lush surroundings of Taman Hutan Raya Ir H Djuanda, Dago Pakar, Bandung, this year’s event drew an impressive crowd of over 3,600 participants from various regions. The excitement was palpable as runners geared up to traverse the scenic trails of this prestigious natural reserve.
Flag Off by Distinguished Guests
The race was officially kicked off by the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, setting the tone for a day filled with camaraderie and competition. Among the esteemed guests in attendance was the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of the Indonesian Trail Running Association (ALTI), Bima Arya. According to Lutfi Erizka, the Head of Balai Tahura Ir H Djuanda, TTRR has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious cross-country running events in Indonesia. “Not only does this event mark the opening of the Asia Trail Master Series, but it is also recognized by ALTI and the International Trail Running Association, cementing its position within the global trail running community,” Lutfi remarked.
Emphasizing Environmental Conservation
Beyond the thrill of the race itself, the TTRR encompassed a Trail Run Expo and a variety of other support programs that underscored the importance of environmental preservation. Lutfi highlighted the event’s central message of forest and land protection, stating, “A tangible step we are taking is the distribution of 1,000 tree seedlings to participants, organizers, and the public. We aim to engage all parties in forest and land rehabilitation efforts.” Symbolic tree plantings were also conducted by Dodit Ardian Pancapana, the Head of the West Java Forestry Department, and the newly elected Mayor of Bandung, M Farhan. “Through activities like these, we can educate the public that sports, environmental conservation, and tourism can coexist harmoniously,” Dodit expressed.
Record-Breaking Participation and Community Support
The 2025 edition of TTRR saw the highest number of participants to date, solidifying its status as one of the top five favorite trail running events in Indonesia. “The overwhelming enthusiasm demonstrates the public’s keen interest in sports and their commitment to environmental stewardship,” Lutfi observed. This smooth-running event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Balai Tahura, the Forestry Department, and the race organizers. With the tagline of preserving nature through sports, Tahura Trail Running Race 2025 aims to inspire a love for the environment and encourage contributions to its sustainability.
A Call to Action for Nature Enthusiasts
As the sun set on a successful TTRR 2025, participants and spectators alike left with a newfound appreciation for the harmonious relationship between sports, nature, and community engagement. The event served as a powerful reminder of the collective impact individuals can have on the environment through their actions and choices.
