UII Launches New Distance Learning Educational Informatics Program
Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) officially launched a new program called Distance Learning Educational Informatics at the Informatics Expo 2025 in the Society Atrium of Pakuwon Mall Yogya, Depok, Sleman, DIY, on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The program, under the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), is designed to offer students the flexibility to study anytime and anywhere, making it a convenient option for learners. Additionally, the affordable tuition fees make it an attractive choice for those seeking quality education without financial burdens.
Unique Learning Experience
Dr. Raden Teduh Dirgahayu, the head of the Informatics Department at FTI UII, highlighted the distinctive features of the Distance Learning Program. Unlike traditional classroom settings, this program utilizes an asynchronous learning approach, allowing students to access study materials and assignments at their convenience. However, synchronous meetings are scheduled at the beginning and midway through the course to monitor student progress effectively.
“We leverage information technology by providing all course materials and assignments through our learning management system. In addition to asynchronous lectures, we also offer tutors or assistants who are well-versed in the subject matter and available for discussions,” explained Dr. Raden Teduh.
Accreditation and Launch Success
The approval for launching the Distance Learning Program was obtained in October 2024, followed by accreditation in November 2024, indicating thorough preparation for the initiative. Dr. Raden Teduh expressed gratitude for the early applicants in November 2024 and hopes that the program’s official launch will garner more interest and enrollment.
“We are grateful for the initial applicants in November 2024. With this launch, we anticipate a rise in the number of students interested in this program,” Dr. Raden Teduh shared optimistically.
