BRI CEO Highlights Record Tax Payment of Rp 90.4 Trillion in Front of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani

During his presentation, Sunarso revealed that over the past three years, BRI had dutifully paid taxes amounting to a staggering Rp 90.4 trillion. Additionally, the company distributed interim dividends totaling Rp 20.33 trillion, with Rp 10.88 trillion going to the state and Rp 9.45 trillion to public shareholders. “We’ve been gradually paying the dividends, starting with the state’s share of Rp 10.8 trillion. I proudly displayed this in front of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani. This is just the beginning; there is more to come,” Sunarso declared.
Emphasizing BRI’s unwavering commitment to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), Sunarso highlighted that by September 2024, the bank had disbursed Rp 1.106 trillion in loans to UMKM, representing 82 percent of its total financing portfolio. “BRI remains focused on UMKM business and consistently nurtures their growth,” Sunarso affirmed.
Expanding Support for UMKM and Economic Inclusion
As the third quarter of 2024 drew to a close, BRI reported a total loan disbursement of Rp 1.35336 trillion, marking an impressive 8.21 percent year-on-year growth. Of this amount, 81.70 percent, equivalent to around Rp 1.10570 trillion, was allocated for UMKM loans. Throughout 2024, BRI also extended Rp 184.98 trillion in People’s Business Credit (KUR) to over four million UMKM entrepreneurs nationwide, focusing on productive sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and trade.
Over the past three years, the Ultra Micro Holding, comprising BRI, PNM, and Pegadaian, has served 36.1 million borrowers, disbursing a total of Rp 627.6 trillion in credit by September 2024. This service also encompassed over 180 million micro savings accounts, reflecting BRI’s holistic approach to financial inclusion and empowerment.
Sunarso underscored that BRI’s efforts extended beyond supporting UMKM growth to fostering inclusive economic development, accelerating poverty alleviation, and promoting economic parity from rural villages to urban centers.
