PBSI Launches Sport Science Analytics to Revolutionize Athletes’ Performance

PBSI Sport Science Analytics, a groundbreaking platform designed to enhance the performance of athletes in the face of increasing competition, was officially launched at the Pelatnas Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI) in Cipayung, East Jakarta on Monday, January 13, 2025. The platform was unveiled by the Chairman of PP PBSI, Muhammad Fadil Imran, with the presence of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora), Taufik Hidayat.

Revolutionizing Athletes’ Training

This innovative platform, PBSI Sport Science Analytics, is a web-based platform that serves as a comprehensive database of athletes’ conditions, health-related incidents, fitness, injuries, and recommendations for interventions and development programs by the support team, including medical, physiotherapy, and nutrition teams. The platform’s main features include integrated data input, logbooks from various fields, and athlete comparisons.

Empowering Athletes with Data

Deputy Minister Taufik, who is also Vice Chairman I of PBSI, highlighted the importance of leveraging science and technology to equip athletes with the necessary tools to face the increasingly competitive sporting landscape. He emphasized the need for Indonesia to stay ahead in utilizing these advancements to support athletes.

During the launch, Deputy Minister Taufik and Chairman of PBSI witnessed the process of gathering athletes’ data, including prominent players such as Bagas Maulana, Leo Rolly Carnando, Daniel Marthin, M. Shohibul Fikri, Alwi Farhan, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, among others.

Enhancing Training Programs

The platform includes a dashboard that allows real-time monitoring by the Chairman, Vice Chairman I, and the Head of Development and Achievement Division of PBSI, ensuring that athletes’ conditions can be closely monitored, with immediate follow-ups when necessary. It goes beyond tracking athletes’ conditions to monitor the performance of technical coaches, physical coaches, and support teams in developing data-driven programs.

Chairman Fadil Imran emphasized that the platform is a work in progress, aimed at building a comprehensive sports science ecosystem. He expressed his hope that this initiative would significantly improve the quality and transparency of athlete development, aligning with PBSI’s vision to make badminton a source of national pride and joy.

Looking Towards the Future

The platform is designed to monitor athletes’ conditions in real-time, record every development or incident, and provide recommendations from physiotherapists, doctors, and nutritionists. The accumulated data will form the basis for technical and physical coaches to create tailored training programs for each athlete.

Through this platform, PBSI aims to enhance athletes’ fitness, endurance, and agility directly, as part of their efforts to support athletes in achieving peak performance, including at the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The organization is committed to continually developing the platform to create a more comprehensive athlete development ecosystem, involving technical coaches, physical coaches, and catering services.

Moving forward, with a transparent and professional approach, PBSI aims to continue producing world-class badminton athletes on the global stage. This platform represents a significant step towards realizing this vision and ensuring the continued success of Indonesian athletes in the competitive world of sports.
