DKI Jakarta Urges Avoiding East Side of Bogor Highway from January 18 Onwards
Starting January 18, 2025, the Jakarta Provincial Government has issued a warning to residents to steer clear of the eastern side of the Bogor Highway, particularly after the Pasar Rebo intersection. This caution comes ahead of planned traffic engineering in the area.
Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), Syafrin Liputo, explained that the traffic engineering is necessary due to the installation of a Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) pipeline in that location. Liputo emphasized the importance of road users adhering to the traffic regulations put in place. He stated, “Road users are advised to avoid that road section and comply with the designated traffic arrangements, follow traffic signs, adhere to the instructions of officers on the ground, and prioritize safety on the road.”
Gradual Work Phases and Lane Reductions
Liputo mentioned that there are five excavation pits that will be worked on gradually. To support these works, traffic engineering will be carried out in line with the various stages of the project. During the construction period, there will be a reduction in lanes or road width along the work area. Liputo added, “The ‘plat deck’ will be conditionally closed when traffic is heavy.”
The traffic engineering will unfold in several phases. Phase 1 involves connecting pit 4 to pit 5 from January 18 to 31, 2025. Following this, Phase 2 includes connecting pit 4 to pit 3 from February 1 to 14, 2025, after pit 5 is completed. Subsequently, Phase 3 entails connecting pit 2 to pit 1 from February 15 to 28, 2025, after pits 4 and 3 are done. Phase 4 will connect pit 2 to pit 3 from March 1 to 14, 2025, after pit 1 is finished. Finally, from March 15 to April 11, 2025, the focus will shift to repair and completion work on the excavations.
Stay Updated and Plan Your Routes Accordingly
As the Jakarta authorities embark on these necessary infrastructure improvements, it’s crucial for commuters to stay informed about the traffic changes and adjust their travel routes accordingly. By planning ahead and staying vigilant on the roads, residents can contribute to smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for all road users during this period of construction and upgrades. Remember, safety comes first!
