600 Navy Troops Deployed to Dismantle Sea Fence in Tangerang

In a massive operation aimed at dismantling a 30.16-kilometer sea fence along the coast of Tangerang, Banten, 600 Navy troops were deployed on Saturday, January 18, 2025. The dismantling process, which began at Tanjung Pasir Beach in Teluknaga, Kabupaten Tangerang, involved the collaboration of the Navy and local residents, with work progressing towards the final point at Pulau Cangkir, Kronjo.

Target Completion in 10 Days, Subject to Weather Conditions

According to Laksma Wira Hady, the Head of the Navy’s Information Service (Kadispenal), the removal of the sea fence is expected to be completed within 10 days. However, he mentioned that the target completion timeframe might be adjusted based on weather conditions.

“We will carry out this process gradually, and if we work on it every day, it will take at least 10 days,” Hady stated. “But if the weather remains rough like this, we will adjust the timing.”

In an effort to expedite the dismantling process, the Navy plans to seek assistance from local fishermen. Each day, the goal is to remove a 2-kilometer stretch of bamboo fence, provided that sea conditions are calm.

“We are grateful for the positive response, and hopefully, the fishermen will assist us in speeding up the process,” Hady expressed. “We will involve the local fishermen because this will benefit them as well.”

Challenges Faced by Navy Personnel

One of the main obstacles encountered by Navy personnel during the dismantling operation is the shallow depth of the sea, which restricts the use of certain equipment.

“We have the necessary equipment here, but they cannot be deployed due to the shallow waters,” Hady explained.

As the Navy troops continue their efforts to dismantle the sea fence in Tangerang, the coordination between military personnel and local residents remains crucial for the successful completion of the task. The community involvement and collaborative spirit displayed in this operation exemplify the unity and determination of all parties involved in this significant endeavor.
